Gitcoin and Polygon are pleased to announce that Polygon has committed $1 million in support of digital public goods with Gitcoin.

With this donation, Polygon has committed one of the largest single donations to the public goods treasury in Gitcoin history. Polygon joins ENS, Badger and Ethereum Foundation as one of only four organizations who have committed over $500k to support public goods. The funds will be allocated evenly over Gitcoin’s next five quarterly grants rounds from December 2021 through December 2022.

“We’re honored to have the support of Polygon. With this incredible donation, they have demonstrated their deep commitment to growing the open source ecosystem and to helping build coordination tools. We believe this is only the beginning of a meaningful partnership.”

– Scott Moore, Co-Founder and Head of Ecosystem Development at Gitcoin.

As a part of the donation, Polygon is contributing $200,000 to Gitcoin’s upcoming Grants Round 12 Quadratic Funding match pool, taking place in December 2021. Polygon will also participate in Gitcoin’s new ecosystem grants program and will run its own matching pool alongside the main one. This will be announced in further detail in an upcoming post.

Thanks in part to Polygon’s contribution, the upcoming Grants Round main matching pool will set a new record of $1 million, eclipsing the high of $815,000 in Grants Round 11 (September 2021).

Launching Checkout integration with Polygon L2

Gitcoin is also announcing grants check out with Polygon. Prior to this release, grants could be funded with either Ethereum or zkSync. Polygon is one of the most widely held tokens in the open source ecosystem, and with this integration, grant participants now have a new efficient, affordable and seamless checkout option.

“We’re thrilled to expand our partnership with Polygon and be a part of the massive commitment Sandeep and Polygon are making to support the open internet. With the launch of Polygon checkout for Gitcoin Grants, we’re making it easier and more affordable for our growing community of over 200,000 supporters to fund public goods.”

– Kevin Owocki, Gitcoin Founder & CEO.
