Gitcoin: ETHDenver Wrap-Up

The Gitcoin / Bounties Networks winning projects + learnings from the weekend ETHDenver was a resounding success for the Ethereum ecosystem. What happens when you get a group of 1,000 hackers together? Turns out, a lot. A great write-up (Part I, Part II) by Lane Rettig gives you a birds eye view to some of the innovation that came out of the 36 hour whirlwind.

In the world of bounties, the Gitcoin + Bounties Network team immensely enjoyed the opportunity to meet many members of our community and to buidl alongside them for the weekend.

Below we’ll explore our winning project submissions, and our hope for future hackathons!

ETHDenver Bounties Track & Colorado Coin

A month prior to the hackathon, we introduced a bounty program for ETHDenver which took in proposals for open-source project ideas which we would bounty (or fund), if successfully executed. The winning submissions were:

Alongside those projects, we placed an open-ended bounty of 1 ETH for the best submission of a bounty platform on the Standard Bounties smart contract, built by the Bounties Network.

Aside from this, Gitcoin bounties leading up to the hackathon funded development of Colorado Coin, an ERC-20 token which doubled as a meal plan for

Gitcoin’s Next Steps

The Gitcoin team came away from ETHDenver more excited than ever for the future of our ecosystem. We also enjoyed working on two experiments we hope to take onwards to future hackathon’s.

  • Bounties Track: Use Gitcoin bounties before the hackathon to stake money on potential hackathon projects you’d love to see built by attending hackers
  • Solid Coin:Use a solid token to encourage different social actions at your physical events, pay for foods, and serve as a keepsake thereafter

Other than this, we’re grateful to the organizers and attendees for coming together to give us a space to engage in a meaningful way. Gitcoin is built for the community, by the community, so events like ETHDenver are our fabric. Thanks for letting us be a part.

If this post makes you nostalgic like, or you’re sad you missed ETHDenver, don’t worry… there’s always next year. Buidl on, until then ⚒⚡️🙏🏽!
